Air Algérie resumes Moscow Flights

Air Algérie will restart direct flights to Moscow on August 3, 2026, ending a months-long suspension, according to government-friendly news outlet Algerie Eco. The carrier will operate three weekly flights following approval from Russian aviation authorities, negotiated by officials including Algerian Ambassador Toufik Djouama. While Moscow’s airport has confirmed the restart, tickets are not yet available on the airline’s website.

Beyond the Russian route, the national carrier is preparing a larger shake-up of its international network for the upcoming winter season. This starts in late October. The plan involves adding five new cities to its list of destinations. These include Brazzaville in the Congo, Conakry in Guinea, Lagos in Nigeria, and Tripoli in Libya. A new service to Kuwait City is also on the list.

The airline is moving away from some of its older flight paths. The goal is to improve how it moves passengers across the region. Currently, travelers going to Nigeria will see a new setup. Air Algérie is introducing a triangular route that links Algiers, Abuja, and Lagos. They plan for two flights each week on this path. Passengers flying to Congo or Guinea will see changes, too. The company is introducing new flight schedules there. They also plan to deploy Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for those specific legs.

Air Algérie is also updating its Central African network. Starting October 25, 2026, the current combined route to Douala and Libreville will be split. Passengers will gain access to direct, non-stop flights from Algiers to each destination.

This restructuring is part of a wider effort. The company aims to reach 18 destinations across Africa by the end of the year. The company is also tweaking its Middle East connections. The new service to Kuwait will be integrated into the existing flight path to Amman, Jordan. This will have an added benefit. It increases the frequency of flights to the Jordanian capital from two to three times a week. These moves are supported by the ongoing delivery of new Boeing aircraft. They are aimed at managing the network more efficiently as the company moves through its operational planning for the second half of 2026.
