Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth set to visit Israel

Amid growing tensions between Israel and the Middle East, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth was set to visit Israel on July 8th, according to Maghrebi Week on July 13th.

The July 8th visit would have marked Hegseth’s first visit to Israel since being appointed as Defence Secretary; he was expected to meet with his Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Hegseth, a staunch Zionist, was expected to address Israeli concerns about Washington’s potential sale of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey. Israel has expressed concerns that increased availability of the aircraft will undermine Israel’s air superiority in the Middle East.
