A new whistleblower investigation has revealed new information about Morocco’s alleged use of the Israeli-made Pegasus spyware in Spain, as reported by Maghrebi Week on July 27th.

This update to the Forbidden Stories investigation revives previous allegations that more than 200 Spanish phone numbers were selected as surveillance targets during the 2021 Pegasus Project and the subsequent 2022 spyware scandal.

Forbidden Stories, in collaboration with Amnesty International, published the testimony of a Moroccan whistleblower from the Direction Générale de la Surveillance du Territoire (DGST), alongside intelligence documents that corroborated some of his claims.

Morocco denies allegations of spyware deployment.
