According to the Alwahat Security Directorate, which published a statement on the 20th of August, six migrants were found dead in the Libyan desert zone, 200 km from the town of Jalu, after their vehicle broke down, reports The New Arab.

The authority found two bodies in the car, another three four kilometres from the vehicle, and another one 10 km away. From investigations, the owner of the car was a man from Chad, which helped to establish that they were migrants. According to the statements of the vehicle owner’s brother, another car stopped and took all the fuel from the broken one, leaving the migrants alone in the desert.

A similar incident happened on the 23rd of August, where 19 migrants were rescued, but no authority gave the exact location of it.

Libya is becoming a new immigration route that connects the North Africa regions to Europe, in particular, after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, thanks to NATO support. The migrants who want to escape poverty, hunger and war accept facing dangerous and often deadly journeys across the desert.

The posted images from the Directorate showed many members of the Fifth Battalion of the 129th Brigade taking the migrants’ bodies from the accident zone and placing them in black plastic bags.
