Libya: UN envoy calls for unity following floods

The Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, emphasised the importance of the east and west uniting to carry out an assessment of the response to the floods in the eastern city of Derna, reports Asharq Al-Awsat and agencies, September 24.
Mr. Bathily met with members of the UN’s Political Affairs Commission of the High Council of State on September 23.
He said on X (formerly known as Twitter) , “I stressed the need for authorities in the East and West to conduct a joint assessment of the humanitarian response and reconstruction needs”.
