Journalist appointed Morocco’s Ambassador to France

Morocco’s King has made a token change to the diplomatic set up in Paris, in a bid to heal poor relations with France and Macron.

Samira Sitail was appointed as Morocco’s Ambassador to France on October 19 by King Mohammed VI, reports Radio France Internationale (RFI).

Her predecessor, Mohamed Benchaaboum was relieved of his duties in January without the announcement of a replacement.

Sitail’s nomination came as a shock due to her having no experience in diplomacy.

Despite her inexperience, she has an impressive CV, working for Moroccan news outlet 2M as a head of news, then deputy director general.
