Berlusconi ‘bunga bunga’ villa up for sale

The late Silvio Berlusconi’s state of the art Villa Certosa has recently been put up for sale, the Daily Mail (UK) reported on February 1.

Arguably the most controversial politician and media tycoon in modern Italian history, the former head of state died aged 86 in June last year, leaving his diamond fortune to his five children and 34-year-old sweetheart.

Notably, 34-year-old Marta Fascina is an Italian lawmaker and has been since 2018, unsurprisingly representing the centre-right Forza Italia party headed by the maverick until his passing.

Based on Costa Smeralda on the northeastern coast of Sardinia and worth a whopping 535 million US dollars, the precious Berlusconi estate was put on the market by his children.

The villa has in the past hosted numerous celebrity figures and politicians including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and a personal friend of the ex-Italian premier Vladimir Putin.

Putin was often welcomed to the Berlusconi empire from the early 2000s onwards in what was the perfect holiday home for the veteran Russian supremo.

Embezzled in scandal after scandal, Berlusconi is well known for his wild sex parties (commonly referred to as bunga bunga). In Morocco and the Maghreb region, when the Italian politician is mentioned, people often point to the incident of a trap set up by a then 17-year-old Moroccan prostitute named Karima El Mahroug.

Back in 2013, it was alleged that he had paid to have sex with the teenager when Prime Minister. A trial found that the pair did not have a sexual encounter and were both acquitted.
