British foreign secretary David Lammy said on October 16th that the UK along with France and Algeria have called an urgent meeting at the UN to discuss the humanitarian situation in Gaza, according to Middle East Monitor via Reuters.

Lammy said that Israel has to protect civilians and allow life-saving aid into Gaza, stating “The humanitarian situation in Northern Gaza is dire, with access to basic services worsening and the United Nations reporting that barely any food has entered in the last two weeks.”

Israel has imposed a siege on northern Gaza over the last fortnight, no allowing any food, water or fuel to enter, while medics have warned that patients on life support will due when the fuel runs out.
