Sinwar is viewed as the chief architect of the October 7th 2023 attack on Israel by Hamas, and his death if confirmed would be a boost for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyau and the country’s military.
Sinwar, who was previously Hamas’ leader in Gaza, was named as the group’s overall leader following the killing of Ismail Haniyeh by Israel in Tehran back in August.
