Newspaper head summoned by Burkina Faso over Mali reporting
Burkina Faso’s communications watchdog has summoned the head of the Observateur Paalga newspaper over an article on Mali, according to Africa News and agencies on November 28th.
The High Council for communication or CSC argues the paper published an article allegedly “breaching the law, ethics and journalistic professional conduct”. The board of the body includes jurists and journalists.
The piece whose title roughly translates as “Malian armed forces: loads of generals” mentioned the promotion of high-ranking junta members ruling Mali.
The hearing is scheduled for November 28th.
