Egypt’s al-Sisi visits Ireland to discuss suffering in Gaza

Egyptian president Adel Fattah al-Sisi visited Dublin on December 11th and held talks with Irish president Michael Higgins and prime minister Simon Harris over the “outrageous suffering” in Gaza, according to agencies via TheArabWeekly.
Higgins said: “The outrageous suffering in the absence of a ceasefire in Gaza was the central part of their discussion,” while they also discussed the situation in Syria.
Egyptian presidential spokesman Mhoamed al-Shenawy said there had been “agreement on the need to expand international recognition of the Palestinian state” and the Egyptian’s praised Dublin’s “courageous” recognition of the State of Palestine.
Ireland, along with several other European countries declared the legitimacy of Palestine in May, prompting outrage in Israel.
