At least 20 migrants have died after their boat sank off the Tunisian coast, according to its state news agency TAP on December 18th as reported by CNN, the second such tragedy in a week.

The vessel had issues around 13 miles off the coast of east coast port city Sfax, and a key transit hub for migrants wanting to reach Europe, particularly those from sub-Saharan Africa.

TAP reported that the boat set off from Chebba in Tunisia’s Mahdia governorate on December 17th evening at 11pm local time, citing the country’s national guard.
