UN offers resolution affirming Palestinian right to self-determination
Sudan crisis: 4 million displaced as conflict reaches 4th month
The United Nations General Assembly voted for a resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict on December 12th affirming the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination by an overwhelming majority. According to Middle East Monitor, A total of 172 countries voted in favour of this resolution. The US , Israel , and 5 other states voted against, and eight countries abstained.
This proposed  solution reflects a fairly worldwide rejection of Israel’s occupation of Gaza, stopping the Palestinian people from being allowed to self-determine and live in a respected independent state.
The International Court of Justice has declared Israel`s occupation of Palestine illegal, and called for its immediate end.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the resolution, stating that it represents a fundamental right of the Palestinian people, and is a key part of the United Nations Charter.
Hamas has also welcomed this resolution, stating “is an expression of the global rallying around and belief in the justice of the Palestinian cause, and the widespread rejection of the Israeli occupation and the criminal policies led by the US administration that denies our Palestinian people their rights.”
