The Algerian government has arrested dozens of activists in the past few days, in what could be the biggest crackdown on the #ManichRadi movement to date, according to TheNewArab on December 25th.

Those detained were accused of sharing social media content relating to the “I’m dissatisfied” (#ManichRadi) hashtag, with many arrested publicly.

President Tebboune condemned the online rally, saying during a speech on December 24th that: “Whoever thinks that he can prey on Algeria with a hashtag is mistaken, as there is no Algerian in whose blood the spirit of resistance does not run.

“We must live up to the expectations of the youth.”
