First aid convoy reaches area of Khartoum since war began
An aid convoy has reached a besieged area of Khartoum for the first time since the civil war began last April, according to The Guardian on December 27th.
This brings food and medicine to a country where a recent report said half the population is at risk of starvation.
The World Food Program, which provided 22 trucks loaded with 750 tonnes of food, said 28 trucks arrived in southern Khartoum on December 25th. Unicef sent five trucks while Médecins Sans Frontières contributed one truck.
