Western media accused of bias against Sudanese military
The Sudanese information and culture minister has accused Western media of bias and twisting the facts surrounding the ongoing civil war in Sudan. According to Anadolu Ajansı on December 30, western media has been accused of supporting the Rapid Support Forces'(RSF) narratives.
Sudan has been in the midst of armed  conflict since April 2023 as historical tensions between Sudan’s army and paramilitary group RSF erupted into war.
During this conflict, millions have fled their homes, thousands have been killed, and many others in the region are at risk of starving.

In a statement to Anadolu, Khalid Alesir argued that Western media has accused the Sudanese army of bombing civilians, according to Alesir these accusations are unfounded. He suggests the Sudanese people do not feel targeted by the army:
“Ask the Sudanese people, do they think that the army targets them…the answer will be the Sudanese army does not target the civilians,”
Instead, he suggests the RSF militias are actually targeting civilians themselves, stating the army plays a role in protecting those fleeing areas under RSF control.
The minister has also accused The RSF of targeting Sudanese media institutions. Alesir reports the army is currently in the process of building new media institutions, in an effort to regain losses accrued in the information sector since the conflict began.
