The Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Dr. Rashad al-Alimi announced on January 6th a number of measures which intend to clamp down on corruption in government institutions and to protect public funds.

The measures, which also intend to tackle money laundering and terrorism financing were announced after the PLC had got reports from audit and judicial agencies on significant corruption cases which have happened in recent years, Asharq Al-Awsat reported.

According to Yemeni state media, al-Alimi gave out “urgent” orders to complete investigations into unsettled corruption cases and for a follow-up process to commence with audit authorities.
