Ghana has suspended diplomatic relations with the Polisario Front in what is another major blow for the Western Sahara resistance movement.

On January 7, the NorthAfricaPost and Atalayar reported Ghana expressed its endorsement of Morocco’s “good faith efforts” in pursuing a solution to Western Sahara, amid growing ties between the two nations.

Over recent decades, economic trade has risen significantly, with Ghana becoming one of Morocco’s key trading partner in regional economic union ECOWAS, exports to Ghana increasing from $5m in 1995 to $133m in 2021.
