Major archaeological discovery in Egypt at pharaoh temple
Archaeologists have uncovered vast intact portions of pharaoh Queen Hatshepsut’s temple, in what could be the biggest archaeological discovery in Egypt since the tomb of Tutankhamen.
According to MiddleEastMonitor on January 8th, more than 1,000 decorated stone blocks in full colour were found in Luxor, dating back to around 1458BC, when Queen Hapshepsut died.
Zahi Hawass, former minister of antiquities and leader of the excavations since 2022 said: “This is the first time that we discovered 1,500 decorated blocks, the most beautiful scenes I’ve ever seen in my life with the colour.”
