DR Congo bans Al Jazeera over rebel interview

The Congo has banned news network Al-Jazeera in a major crackdown on press freedom in the war torn country.
According to AP on January 9th, the Qatari broadcaster was banned following an interview with a rebel leader who has seized territory in Eastern Congo in recent days.
The Congolese government said Al-Jazeera had interviewed the head of a “terror organization without proper accreditation.”
