The ouster prime minister of Sao Tome and Principe, Patrice Trovoada, has pledged to pursue every legal channel to protect his country’s constitution and government.

According to AfricaNews on January 9th, Tovoada slammed his forced abdication by Sao Tome and Principe’s President Carlos Vila Nova as “illegal” and “unconstitutional”.

He said: “The President of the Republic decided to dismiss the Prime Minister without consulting the Council of State and without justifying to the Council of State the existence of a dysfunction in democratic institutions that would warrant the resignation of the government.”
