DR Congo: Army recaptures key towns from M23 rebels
The Congolese army has recaptured key towns from the Rwanda-backed M23 rebel group, in a major victory for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) government.
According to AfricaNews, Congolese military reported successfully pushing back M23 forces from South Kivu province and seizing strategic towns in both South and North Kivu, on January 11th and 12th.
The National reported an Army spokesperson said: “They (the rebels) have seen their adventure come to a halt by the FARDC (Congolese security forces).”
