Widespread anti Israel-normalisation protests broke out in Libya on January 11th and 12th, following ex-Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush’s admission of a secret meeting with Israel.

According to MiddleEastMonitor, demonstrators took to the streets in Tripoli, as well as Tajoura, Bani Walid and Al-Zawiya, burning tyres and erecting barriers on main roads.

They called for accountability for government actions after Al-Mangoush said in an televised interview that her polarising meeting with former Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in August 2023 had been pre-arranged by the Tripoli based Government of National Unity.
