Mali: Three tons of gold seized from Barrick Gold amid tax feud
The military junta in Mali has seized three tons of gold from Canadian mining company Barrick Gold as the bitter tax dispute continues.
According to Africa News, a senior Barrick Gold manager confirmed the confiscation, which amounts to $180m.
Four senior executives were previously arrested in Mali over the tax dispute which led Barrick Gold to pay $80m to secure their release, and to agree another $80m in compensation in the coming months.
