White House says Biden working with Sisi on Gaza ceasefire

The White House has said US president Joe Biden and Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza on January 14th and agreed to remain in close coordination, reported Reuters.
Negotiators were trying to clinch an agreement on January 14th for the final details of a ceasefire in Gaza after marathon talks in Qatar, with involved parties saying a deal was closer than at any point previously. The talks are mediated by both the US and Egypt.
“Both leaders committed to remain in close coordination directly and through their teams over the coming hours,” the White House said in a statement after the call between Biden and Sisi.
