Algeria barricades refugee camps for railway opening

Algeria is barricading in the Polisario-run Tindouf refugee camps, restricting movement and depriving the Sahrawis of any income, as a new railway is launched.
According to North Africa Post on January 20th, fortifications and fences are being erected to prevent Sahrawis from leaving, while the Polisario officials should be unaffected, given their close ties with the Algerian government.
Once launched, the railway will connect the controversial Ghara Jbilet iron mine in the country’s south west to the rest of Algeria, a plan which Morocco has said violates historic agreement between the two rivals, according to alestiklal.net.
