Morocco: King urged to pardon former human rights minister
An Islamist opposition party in Morocco has urged King Mohammed VI to pardon former human rights minister Mohamed Ziane, as pressure builds for his release.
According to the New Arab, Justice and Development Party asked the monarch on January 18th to consider “the circumstances of Ziane and the humanitarian challenges.”
The seasoned lawyer and founder of the Moroccan Liberal Party is currently serving five years in prison in a case that rights groups deemed as politically motivated.
