Son of Gaddafi breaks silence on Libya’s funding of Sarkozy
The youngest son of Libya’s former ruler Muammar Gaddafi says he was pressured to retract allegations about his country’s funding of the 2007 French presidential campaign of Nicolas Sarkozy in an exclusive interview with RFI reported on January 23rd.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi claims he was approached on three separate occasions to change testimony he gave to investigators in France back in 2018, when he says he oversaw cash payments of $5 million to the Sarkozy’s team.
“Sarkozy has exercised pressure on me through intermediaries several times,” Gaddafi told RFI in his first statements about the “Libyan financing affair” since 2011.
