Western Sahara: Morocco to expand infrastructure south
Mauritania has given the green light for an electricity project connecting it to Morocco through Western Sahara, as relations between the two blossom.
According to Yabiladi on January 23rd, the initiative will include internet and telephone networks operated by the Moroccan Telephone Group, building on the construction of roads across the territory, destined to connect the two countries by land.
Both countries find themselves in similar positions, with security threats from terrorists in the Sahel regions, even from within Algeria’s borders, as well challenges around Western Sahara, and the presence of the pro-independence Polisario Front, according to Atalayar.
