Macron tells Netanyahu to honour Lebanon truce
French president Emmanuel Macron has told Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to adhere to the ceasefire agreement and pull troops out of Lebanon as Israeli fire killed at least 22 people in the the south of the country, reported RFI on January 26th.
In a phone call, Macron stressed the importance of restoring authority of the Lebanese state across the country and called for an immediate end to Israel’s presence beyond the agreed deadline.
The agreement required Israeli forces to withdraw over a 60-day period, ending on January 26th, same the day Israel killed the 22 individuals in southern Lebanon as civilians attempted to return home under the ceasefire deal.
