DR Congo president vows “vigorous” military action
The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo says his army is mounting a “vigorous” military response to the Rwanda-backed M23’s capture of the critical city of Goma in the mineral-rich province of North Kivu.
According to Africa News, president Felix Tshisekedi addressed his nation on January 29th, promising that a “vigorous and coordinated response against these terrorists and their sponsors is underway”.
While the UN Security Council met for the second time in three days on January 28th, Tshisekedi condemned the inaction of the international community as they watched what he called “unprecedented worsening of the security situation” in the DRC.
