Famous Tunisian rapper and alleged drug kingpin arrested
A famous Tunisian rapper has been arrested and is believed by authorities to be the kingpin of a drug trafficking network.
According to Watan on January 30th, the singer Samah Al-Riyahi, known by his stage name as “Samara”, was detained with one of his relatives following investigator’s close monitoring of his movements.
Tunisian security forces say they have been cracking down on large-scale drug operations in the country, as heroine and cocaine smuggling increases according to Africa Organised Crime Index, arresting approximately 5,000 drug dealers in 2024, compared to 3,165 in 2023.
