Morocco’s defected intelligence officer missing in Spain

One of Morocco’s top intelligence officers who recently defected has fled from Spain fearing deportation and assassination by Rabat’s agents.
According to El Confidencial via pro-Algerian outlet EchoroukOnline on February 2nd, intelligence officer Mehdi Hajawi, who initially sough refuge in France before being spooked, failed to appear in Spanish courts and was thus considered a fugitive from justice.
Hajawi is considered a “treasure trove of information”, as he inhabited King Mohammed VI’s inner circle and was even his classmate as a youth.
