As Yemen continues to face a serious humanitarian crisis, a new UN report revealed that over half of Yemen’s births are not happening in safe places, Asharq Al-Awsat reported on February 3rd.

More than half of Yemen’s population needs aid because of the failed economy and the decline of services, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has said.

This has sparked a rise in child marriage and displacement, with climate issues displacing nearly half a million people last year, according to the UNFPA.

In its Yemen Situation Report, the UNFPA said: “The healthcare system is also struggling, with only 45% of births attended by trained personnel and a high burden of cholera.”
