The United Nations on February 2nd denounced a series of attacks on civilians within Sudan, such as the shelling of a market in Omdurman which caused the deaths of at least 60, according to The New Arab and agencies.

United Nations resident and humanitarian coordinator in Sudan, Clementine Nkweta-Salami, said in a statement that the attack on Sabreen market and other residential areas in Omdurman on February 1st were “horrific” and “indiscriminate.”

Artillery fire from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) hit the market in Omdurman, pro-democracy lawyers have said.

Rescuers have said that across the Nile river in Khartoum alone, an airstrike on an RSF-held area killed two people and caused wounds to dozens more.
