Algeria warns of ‘irreparable split’ with France

President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune criticised a “toxic climate” in relations with France and established conditions for resuming dialogue with his country’s former colonial rulers, reported Atalayar on February 4th.
In an interview with the L’Opinion newspaper, Tebboune affirmed that there was a “disastrous” relationship with Paris. “We are wasting time with President Macron,” he stated, and stressed that his goal is to avoid “an irreparable separation” with France.
“There is no progress, except in trade relations. Political dialogue is practically suspended,” he added , denouncing “the daily hostile statements” of the French authorities.
