Organising elections in Syria could take five years, al-Sharaa says

Syria’s interim president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, has said that organising elections in the country could take as long as five years, France 24 via Reuters reported on February 3rd.
In a pre-recorded interview broadcast on a private Syrian television channel, al-Sharaa said: “My estimate is that the period of time will be approximately between four and five years until the elections.”
Late in December, al-Sharaa told Al Arabiya TV that it could take four years for the election process to take form. Al-Sharaa added that the system for the vote “needs to be re-established, and this takes time.”Al-Sharaa also pledged that “a law regulating political parties” will be implemented.
