Tunisia: Opposition leader handed another long prison sentence

The imprisoned Tunisian opposition leader has been handed another long prison sentence as part of a wave of new judgements on prominent politicians.
According to Middle East Eye, Rached Ghannouchi, the 83-year-old head of the Islamic-based Ennahda party, was sentenced to another 22 years in prison on February 5th.
Ghannouchi joins a generation of political prisoners in Tunisia, who have all been ruthlessly persecuted since the incumbent President Kais Saied’s power grab in 2021.
