Saudi Arabia has firmly criticised comments by Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he proposed that a Palestinian state could be established on Saudi land, the Middle East Eye via Reuters reported on February 9th.

During an interview with Israel’s Channel 14 on February 6th, Netanyahu said: “The Saudis can create a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia; they have a lot of land over there.”

As number of countries criticized the comments, such as Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Iraq, Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry said  it “appreciates the condemnation, disapproval and total rejection announced by the brotherly countries towards what Benjamin Netanyahu stated.”
