Ghana is now missing $156m from its state budget as Donald Trump’s US administration cut all funding for the development and humanitarian aid agency USAID.

According to Africa News on 12 February, the country is now frantically looking for ways to close the deficit, with the aid being crucial for Ghana’s health and agricultural sector.

A $25m project focusing on primary healthcare in northern Ghana is likely to be first on the chopping board, causing a significant fallout in critical areas such as maternal and child health, according to Farmonaut.
