Spyware used to target campaigner for migrants in Libya
An activist based in Italy whose work supports the international criminal court in giving evidence around the abuse of migrants and refugees in Libyan detention camps and prisons has revealed that Apple told him his phone was targeted in a spyware attack, reported The Guardian on February 12th.
David Yambio, president and co-founder of Refugees in Libya, has criticised Italy’s migrant pact with Libya and its recent decision to release Libyan police chief Osama Najim, wanted by the international criminal court (ICC) for suspected war crimes including torture, murder, enslavement and rape.
Yambio was an alleged victim of Najim’s abuses while he was detained at the notorious Mitiga prison near Tripoli.
