Teachers across Algeria go on strike

Teachers in Algeria have carried out a two day against their low salaries and declining working conditions, in a rare act of protest against the regime.

According to Africa News, teachers shuttered classrooms on 11 and 12 February, leaving students to fend for themselves.

While President Adbelmadjid Tebboune has increased wages through his tenure, teachers’ unions say starting salaries are still barely more than minimum wage.
