Morocco: Livestock numbers have dropped by 38% amid drought

Morocco’s Agriculture Minister has revealed livestock numbers have plummeted by 38% since 2016, as the North African kingdom struggles with long-term drought.
Fes News reported on 13 February that minister Ahmed Bouari has taken exceptional measures, including suspending import duties and VAT for red meat in an attempt to stabilise market supply.
According to Yabiladi, Morocco currently has a delegation in Australia looking at importing 100,000 sheep annual to ease the impact of the shortfall back at home.
