Tunisia’s opposition leader begins hunger strike

Tunisia’s opposition party leader has begun her hunger strike in prison to protest her “ill treatment” by authorities.
According to Middle East Monitor, the head of Tunisia’s Free Destourian Party, Abir Moussi, started her strike on 12 February after she was arrested for calling for local elections in October.
In a press statement, Mousi’s lawyers said: “Our client informed us that she no longer feels safe regarding her health or life and that she has officially begun an indefinite hunger strike from today, Wednesday, in protest against ill-treatment.”
