Afghans detained in Africa return home

Afghanistan’s foreign ministry announced on February 16th that 17 Afghans imprisoned in Morocco, Egypt Libya, Sudan and Mauritania had been repatriated following negotiations conducted by diplomatic representatives of the Taliban in Cairo, reported SWI.
The Afghan foreign ministry spokesman Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takel said in a statement that the detainees had been released from prisons across Africa in the past three months.
“Thanks to the efforts of the Grand Embassy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Cairo, 17 Afghans were released from prisons in various countries,” Takel stated.
