Ten years since notorious Islamic State beheading video

February 15, 2025, marks ten years since the Islamic State released a video of the execution of 21 men on a beach in Libya.

According to Forbes, the men were Egyptian Coptic Christians who were kidnapped in Libya, before being beheaded as “infidels”, the video being shared around the world.

Ten years on, the Islamic State continues to exist on the fringes, with a report presented to the UN security council on February 10th stressing that the Islamic State remains a serious global security threat.
