UN wants $6 billion to tackle hunger crisis in Sudan
UN officials on February 17th have said they they want $6 billion from donors for Sudan this year to held deal with what they describe as the world’s worst ever hunger crisis and the widespread displacement of people prompted by the civil war, according to Asharq Al-Awsat via Reuters.
The appeal for funding represents an increase of over 40% from last year’s for Sudan during a period when budgets for aid across the world are strained.
This is partly because of a standstill in funding announced by US President Donald Trump in January that has had an impact on life saving initiatives in the world.
