Barrick Gold agrees to end mining dispute with Mali

Canadian miner Barrick Gold has signed an agreement with the military-led government of Mali to end an almost two-year-old dispute over its mining assets in the country, two sources told Reuters on February 19th.
Barrick has signed the deal and it is now up to the government of Mali to formally approve it, the sources told Reuters. An official announcement could come as early as February 20th.
Barrick Gold and Mali have been locked in a dispute for two years over the implementation of Mali’s country’s new mining code that gives the government a greater share in the country’s gold mine.
