French surgeon on trial for almost 300 child abuse charges
Surgeon Joel Le Scouarnec will go on trial on February 24th in Brittany in France’s largest-ever child sexual abuse case, reported RFI.
Scouarnec is accused of raping and sexually assaulting hundreds of young patients in various hospitals over decades.
The trial, which has echoes of the recent Dominique Pelicot trial for mass rape, raises questions about the French public healthcare system’s ability to protect its most vulnerable patients.
