Syrian Kurds have said they will boycott a two-day Syrian dialogue conference, arranged by the country’s transitional government, which intends to form the post-Assad future of Syria, The New Arab reported on February 24th.

The conference which started in Damascus was a central commitment of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a group that previously had ties to Al-Qaeda. On December 8th, HTS attained control of Damascus after a significant military attack that caused Bashar al-Assad to go to Russia, drawing an end to his family’s rule, which went on for over 50 years.

The Kurdish-led Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and other Kurdish representatives said they would not be involved, due to concerns about the conference’s inclusiveness and legitimacy.
